PURPOSE-BUILT POWER

The performance of Troubadour’s field-coil motor depends on a clean, stable source of power. Rather than rely on an off-the-shelf solution, Jones & Cerreta developed the PS-1S27V-V1 linear power supply specifically for Troubadour—and includes one with each loudspeaker.

General-purpose power supplies are not typically built to the low-noise specifications required for high-performance audio. Troubadour’s dedicated linear power supply lowers background noise while maintaining low source impedance, creating the stable magnetic field the field-coil motor needs to operate at its best.

At the heart of the unit is a toroidal transformer, selected for its low-noise performance and efficient power delivery. Toroidal transformers are widely used in high-end audio components, making this the natural choice for Troubadour.

Each Troubadour loudspeaker has its own dedicated power supply. Keeping the left and right channels completely independent prevents noise from one channel from entering the other, preserving separation and maintaining the integrity of the signal.

The power supply is designed to operate easily as part of the complete Troubadour system. When music begins playing, it automatically powers on and quickly reaches stable operation. After music stops, the unit automatically shuts down following approximately 20 minutes of inactivity.

A momentary button on the front panel allows the unit to be turned on or off manually, while a rear power switch provides the option to shut it down completely.

Each power supply includes two four-pin XLR cables:

• One 1-meter cable
• One 3-meter cable

The cables may be used separately or connected together to provide up to four meters of reach, offering flexibility when positioning the power supply within the listening room.

Although the PS-1S27V-V1 operates efficiently, it should be placed in a well-ventilated location with sufficient airflow around the chassis.
